You can benefit from hotel rewards memberships whether you’re booking a hotel for your next family vacation in Florida or for a quick work conference in New York.
Business travelers often look for hotels offering rewards like free nights, bonus points, and upgrades that can be accumulated and applied toward future stays. On the other hand, vacationers look for bonus benefits to use while traveling, like welcome gifts, dining discounts, and entertainment offers.
To accommodate the varied needs of either kind of traveler, hotel loyalty programs offer benefits for both the frequent traveler and the family looking to get away once or twice a year. No matter your reason for travel, you can benefit from joining hotel loyalty programs. Here’s how to get started. (TL;DR: They’re completely free and super easy to set up.)
How to Join a Hotel Rewards Program
Joining a hotel rewards program is as easy as filling out a form with your name and contact details. Signing up takes just moments, but the benefits will keep coming for as long as you’re a member.
To join the Marriott Bonvoy program, it’s as simple as clicking one button to create an account using your Facebook login. Or fill out the basic form with your name and contact details. Either way, you’ll get started for free. Check whether you’d like email updates or not,
then click the “join” option.
The Wyndham Rewards program application process involves entering your name and contact details, then clicking whether you would like to receive regular emails. Once you’ve checked (or unchecked) the email box, click “join now.” On the next screen, you’ll create a username and password, then click “next.” Or if you want instant gratification, click the “No thanks, I’ll set up account info later” option.
To join the IHG Rewards Club, you’ll create an account. Enter your name, email address, and country. Create a pin number, fill in your address, click the box stating you understand the terms of agreement, and then click “join now.”
Should You Join a Loyalty Program?
Even if you’re not a frequent traveler, the answer is always “yes.” Quartzy backs us up in their article, “Hotel Loyalty Points Are Totally Worth It—Even If You Don’t Travel Often”: “The perception that hotel loyalty programs don’t have anything to offer less frequent or lower budget travelers is completely flawed. The bottom line is that hotel loyalty programs offer solid value propositions for all travelers, even those who travel infrequently. These programs recognize that younger generations, especially millennials, are digitally savvy and more experiential in nature and are thus looking for a combination of rewards and customization.”
The biggest benefit you’ll receive by joining these programs is gaining access to discounted rates that you won’t find anywhere else. These “loyalty rates” are the cheapest hotel rates you’ll find on the market—we’re serious. You also don’t have to be a big spender in order to get these discounts. The minute you sign up for these programs, you’ll be able to get their lower rates. In fact, some programs even let you sign up as you book your hotel room.
We recommend signing up for as many loyalty groups as you can (we did!). That way you can get a low rate no matter where you choose to stay. Then, use roomkey.com to search and compare your loyalty rates from multiple hotel chains all at once—FYI, we’re the only travel site that lets you do that! When you use Roomkey, you’ll know you’re looking at the lowest rates available. Take our word for it.
After you’ve chosen your destination, we’ll take you directly to the hotel’s website where you’ll complete your booking and secure your room, rate, and loyalty points, too. From then on, you’ll accumulate points that you can redeem for free travel. And who doesn’t love free stuff?
